I hate insurance companies.
My mother in law got three new prescriptions for pain medication yesterday. These prescriptions needed to be pre-authorized by her insurance company.
So, on a holiday weekend, while she’s writhing in pain, we have the following choices:
Come up with the $400 in the next two hours to get them out of the pharmacy so she can start taking her medication and actually be pain-free, and just wait for the insurance company to reimburse us for the cost of the medication;
Tell a dying woman to suck it up and deal with it because the doctor’s office was too good to fax the paperwork back to the insurance company yesterday, and wait out the holiday weekend and *maybe* get the authorization on Tuesday.
Personally, I’d rather just pay for them outright and wait for the insurance company to write us a check.
Problem with that:
We’re completely dead flat fucking broke, because I’ve worked for one of my clients for three months while the stupid state of California sits on my paychecks because of a “processing issue”.
Guess what? My paypal is taking donations. I refuse to watch her sit there and writhe all weekend for no good reason.
